Programs for the Athens Fibercraft Guild 2021-2022

September 14, 2021        Zoom Meeting 12:30, link is sent to members. This month our program will be a video, Quilt Stories, an interview with Susan Brubaker Knapp.

October 12, 2021           Zoom Meeting 12:30, link is sent to members. This month, the program will be presented by Tommye Scanlin, Tapestry artist.  She will discuss the 2 books that she has recently published, The Nature of Things and Tapestry Design Basics and Beyond.

November 9, 2021      Zoom Meeting 12:30, link is sent to members. Our speaker this month is Maude Anne May, Encaustic and Fiber Collage Artist.  She is a collage artist layering images and utilizing two dissimilar mediums, encaustic and fabric. 

December 14, 2021      Zoom Meeting 12:30, link is sent to members. Our handmade gift exchange was the program.

January 11, 2022          Zoom Meeting 12:30, link is sent to members. Linda Fjeldsted Blust from Reno, Nevada creates Sculptural Fiber Birds, which she calls ‘Wild Things’ was the speaker. 

February 8, 2022          Zoom Meeting begins at 12:30 pm. Our February speaker will be Debra Avery Weaver, who creates incredible pine needle baskets.  

March 8, 2022              Zoom Meeting begins at 12:30 pm. Our March speaker is Eowyn Latham Grubbs, who creates tufted rugs and wall pieces.  

April 12, 2022              Zoom Meeting begins at 12:30 pm. Our speaker for the April meeting will be Leigh Skowronski, President of the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild from Lawrenceville, GA. She will share her incredible art with us!  

May 10, 2022               The May AFG meeting will be our meeting to share our Annual Challenge Project –  Annual Challenge Project is to create an artwork based on the theme, Botanicals, hold our Swap Meet and have ‘Show &Tell’.

June 14, 2022              In June we will resume our Annual Pot-Luck Picnic at Linda Greiss’ house.  Although we originally planned on having the picnic at Memorial Park in Athens, it was decided that high temperatures would not be comfortable for the picnic.
