The Athens Fibercraft Guild meets on the second Tuesday of the month, 12:30p, September – May, at the Lyndon House Arts Center, 211 Hoyt Street, Athens GA 30601. For the 2020-21 year, we are meeting via Zoom. If you are interested in attending the February Zoom Meeting, email Linda Greiss at email@example.com.
Our Speaker for April is Barbette Houser presenting “Decorating with Textiles.” Barbette has acquired an amazing collection of Vintage Textiles. Textiles can beautify your home, adding color, pattern, and warmth to your living space, and displaying and arranging them can be one of life’s great pleasures. Barbette Houser will share her experience of integrating her collection into her own home and will also provide examples of other interiors that showcase a variety of textiles, from antique quilts and suzanis to works by contemporary artists. She will also discuss display methods and welcomes input from guild members. Please plan to attend this wonderful program at 12:30 pm April 13th on Zoom. The Zoom meeting link will be emailed to members on Monday, April 12th.
Barbette is a quilter and a former high school art educator and arts writer for Flagpole Magazine. Her Craftsman style home has been featured on tours to benefit both Historic Athens and WUGA. She is currently pursuing her MFA in creative writing.
The Athens Fibercraft Guild welcomes all amateur and professional fiber artists including knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners, fabric designers, basket makers, quilters and embroiderers who share their talents. Although meetings are normally held on the second Tuesdays of the months September through June at the Lyndon House Arts Center, 211 Hoyt St., Athens, GA and feature programs about the fiber arts, we now meet via Zoom. Members are sent email invitations to join the meetings.
