The Athens Fibercraft Guild meets on the second Tuesday of the month, 12:30p, September – May, at the Lyndon House Arts Center, 211 Hoyt Street, Athens GA 30601.

For the October 8 meeting, the members will meet in the Lyndon House lower parking lot at 12:30 to carpool to the Georgia Museum of Art for a curated tour of an exhibit of Mary Lee Bendolph’s Quilts of the Gees Bend Quilters. This exhibition features quilts created by artist Mary Lee Bendolph spanning three decades. Bendolph worked in textile-related fields until 1992, when she retired and then had more time to devote to quilting. The artist, who is from Gee’s Bend, Alabama, comes from a family with generations of talented quilt makers. Bendolph learned to quilt from her mother, who helped launch the Freedom Quilting Bee during the 1960s.  Everyone is invited and is welcome to bring any fiber craft that you have made for show and tell.  There will be an opportunity to join if interested.  Go to the Athens Fibercraft Guild website at https://athensfiber.org for more info.
