The Athens Fibercraft Guild meets on the second Tuesday of the month, 12:30p, September – May, at the Lyndon House Arts Center, 211 Hoyt Street, Athens GA 30601. For the 2020-21 year, we are meeting via Zoom. If you are interested in attending the November Zoom Meeting, email Linda Greiss at lindagreiss@gmail.com.

Liz Johnson will present the January 12, 2021 program on “Let’s Make Busy Mats!”  Busy Mats, also called Activity Blankets, Fidget Quilts and many other names, are sewn, quilted, knitted or crocheted projects that include sensory activities that help to calm and occupy people with dementia. Busy Mats will be the AFG Challenge Project for 2021. Mats made by members will be shown at the AFG meeting on May 11 and later donated to nursing homes.

The Athens Fibercraft Guild welcomes all amateur and professional fiber artists including knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners, fabric designers, basket makers, quilters and embroiderers who share their talents. Although meetings are normally held on the second Tuesdays of the months September through June at the Lyndon House Arts Center, 211 Hoyt St., Athens, GA and feature programs about the fiber arts, we now meet via Zoom.  Members are sent email invitations to join the meetings.
